Please help!

Mygate was created because, like you, its founder was fed up with the following internet limitations:

• Long, complicated, unmanageable Favourites lists
• These lists were lost if you changed devices – work/home/mobile etc
• You didn’t want to have to delete your history for any reason
• Relying on your browser’s history often meant scrolling through long, confusing web addresses to find the one you wanted
• Your history list was also lost should you change device

Why couldn’t I just be 1 click away from all of my favourite sites without having to rely on any of the above? Mygate was born out of this frustration.
 

In order to create your free personalised homepage, mygate requires certain information to populate your page for you. The information you provide will create your own piece of the internet from which to access every website you will ever need.
 

Simply click on the Take Control button located on the website’s homepage and follow the quick and simple 4 Step process. Don’t be shy with your interests – you can have as many as you want down the left side of your page, after all it is yours! 

Yes and mygate would advise you to do so as most browsers think new windows are pop-up adverts and minimise / block them for you ,which can be very annoying!

• Open mygate.co.uk
• Click Tools and then Internet Options at the top of your page
• Under the General section, click Settings next to the Tabs section
• Under the section which says ‘When a pop-up is encountered’ select the ‘Always open pop-ups in a new tab’ option

If you’re using a version of Internet Explorer that doesn’t support tabs (IE 6.0 or earlier) then simply upgrade your browser by downloading it from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/downloads/ie/getitnow.mspx  

I’m afraid that at the moment you can’t. For simplicity (something mygate prides itself on) you are restricted to one of the preloaded categories. There is a myGeneral category that comes preloaded with every users’ homepage should you have something that doesn’t fit anywhere but every effort has been taken to minimise this. Please remember, if you have something that doesn’t fit in your current category list, click Edit categories as it might just fit under one you hadn’t previously selected.

Don’t worry, this happens all the time! Simply click on the Forgotten your password? link top right of your page and enter your email address (don't worry, your email address will not be saved or used by mygate or sold on to any 3rd parties). Mygate will then send you your username and password details.

Mygate offers you complete personalisation down to the colour of your page – simply click the Colours link at the bottom of your page (beneath your photo) and select the colour scheme you prefer.

Mygate has carefully selected photos which most closely compliment your chosen colour scheme but of course you can upload your own at any time by clicking on the Photo link at the bottom of your page (beneath the current photo you wish to change) and either click on another default photograph or upload your own and follow the on-screen instructions.

Immediately beneath your myCategories list is an Edit categories button. Click this and it will load Step 2 of your registration process where you can select and deselect whichever categories you now wish to include on your page.

Each category comes with default links preloaded to help you get started, if you wish to remove these completely or simply add to them then roll your mouse over the category and click Edit. Here you will be able to edit the links you currently have stored, delete any links you no longer require and Add any new links that you would like to appear in that category. Simply edit the links by clicking in the text boxes, delete them by clicking Delete and add new ones by typing in their Quick name, Web address and then click Add. When you’re finished, click update and your changes will have been made.

Your Top Links will change over time as you discover new websites and your mygate page should change with you. Simply click on the edit button on the far right of your Top Links bar and this will load Step 3 of your registration process where you can change the Top Link name displayed at the top of your page and the subsequent web address. To locate your specific web address click the ‘click here’ button to launch Google in a new window and then copy and paste your new web address into the Web address field and click Update to save your changes.

To ensure your mygate homepage is as personalised as possible you can order your categories and Top Links in any way that suits you – alphabetically, most popular etc. Simply hover your mouse over the category/Top Link you wish to move, click and hold the left mouse button, whilst keeping the mouse button depressed move your category/Top Link to your preferred location. When you are happy release the left mouse button to drop the category/Top Link in place. This can be done as many times as you like. 

Your homepage is only as personal to you as you make it so should you move house or change jobs for example then you should update mygate accordingly. To change these details, simply click on the Edit Profile link beneath your photograph. This will take you to Step 1 of the registration process and here you can update all the data you originally entered when signing up to mygate.

Mygate is an independently owned company and has no ties with any browsers but it works best in the most common browsers like IE, Firefox, Safari, Opera and Chrome. We recommend you use the latest version of your favourite browser for you own security and improved compatibility.

In order for mygate to provide this service for free it is, of course, paid for by advertising. All of the personal data provided by users is kept on a secure MYSQL database. Groups of individuals that share interests, hobbies and demographics will have online advertisers advertising on their homepages. No individual’s personal details are ever passed on to the advertisers or used by mygate in any other marketing activities by Mygate Ltd or 3rd parties.
